pinnawalaAfter breakfast, proceeds to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat. This is the only such sanctuary in the world; you will watch the beasts gamboling in the water and being fed their quota of milk from handheld. Then proceed to Habarana via Dambulla visiting rock cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (since 1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is precisely situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. Then proceed to 5th century rock fortress Sigiriya consists of an ancient citadel built by King Kashyapa during the 5th century. The Sigiriya site contains the ruins of an upper palace located on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes, the lower palaces located behind the lavish lower gardens, and moats and ramparts which protected the citadel. The site was both a palace and a fortress. The upper palace on the top of the rock includes cisterns cut into the rock that still retain water. The moats and walls that surround the lower palace are still exquisitely beautiful. After visiting Sigiriya proceed to your hotel stay overnight.

After breakfast if prevailing weather conditions are conducive, proceed to Minneriya sanctuary. Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.[1] The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee districts.
Then proceed to your hotel in the evening for overnight stay.

Day 4
After breakfast drive to Kandy via Matale. Your en route visit some spice garden and Handicraft centers traditional self employment In Matale and proceed to Kandy you may do a city tour to the focal point of the town is the golden-roofed most venerated temple in the Island ‘Dalada Maligawa’, where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy, Also, seeing the Kandy Lake and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens if time permits and back to your hotel for overnight stay.

In the morning proceed to Hill country Nuwara Eliya, which is the heart of the Tea country located at an elevation of approximately 1980 meters in the central highs, which offer north tropical and cool mountain climate. In the nights the temperatures fall low enough as 120C in atmosphere. Visit a tea factory have a “Ceylon tea” sip off in the evening and return to your hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 8 & DAY 9
Today morning proceed along the south east coast towards to southern capital Galle. Visit Galle fort and National Maritime Museum, some Dutch, British era buildings and in the afternoon drive along the coastal line up to Hikkaduwa it is a paradise for beach lovers. There are many interesting sites and excursions are widely open for explorers such as in glass bottom boat ride to view sea corals, “Maadu Ganga” river ride in canoe or boat surrounded by many mangroves in natural habitat, view various kinds of tropical fish, also turtle conservation sites are open for tourists in near vicinity or optionally you may snorkeling, diving, sea water sports or surfing or either leisurely lay down on the beach and next day also leisure at beach or visiting interesting sites as mentioned above.

DAY 10
After breakfast and a few good days of travel, ready for departure, proceed to BIA- Katunayaka via Colombo.
